Mostaccioli with hot Italian sausage in creamy tomato Parmesan dressing - a simple and delicious weeknight pasta.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound hot Italian sausage, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 0.5 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 large cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 0.25 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 0.5 (16 ounce) package mostaccioli pasta
  • 0.25 cup creamy Parmesan salad dressing
Instructions:
  • In a large pot, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add sausage and cook, stirring occasionally, until almost browned, approximately 5 minutes. Incorporate onion and garlic and cook until tender, about 5 minutes. No need to drain. Stir in tomato sauce, basil, parsley, and pepper, bring to a gentle boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • While waiting, prepare a large pot of gently salted water until it reaches a rolling boil. Add penne and cook while stirring occasionally until perfectly tender yet slightly firm, approximately for 11 minutes. Drain the pasta.
  • After taking the sauce off the heat, swirl in the salad dressing. Drizzle over pasta to your liking and plate up.
