Nutella® Banana Split Bread

Elevate banana bread with Nutella swirls and luscious caramel sauce for a banana split-inspired treat.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas
  • 3 tablespoons whipping cream
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 (6 ounce) package semisweet chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cup chopped pecans
  • 0.25 cup chocolate-hazelnut spread (such as Nutella®)
  • 0.5 cup half-and-half
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • In a medium bowl, blend flour, baking powder, and baking soda with a whisk. In a separate bowl, mix bananas and cream together.
  • In a separate bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg. Add the flour mixture gradually in 2 batches, alternating with the banana mixture, briefly beating the batter after each addition. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and pecans. Transfer the batter into the prepared pan.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the chocolate-hazelnut spread until melted, approximately 25 seconds on High. Drizzle the melted spread over the batter in the pan and swirl it in using a knife.
  • Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 60-70 minutes in a preheated oven.
  • As the bread bakes, combine brown sugar, half-and-half, butter, and salt in a saucepan. Whisk over medium-low heat until thickened, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in vanilla and cook for 1 more minute until slightly thicker. Remove from heat, cool slightly, and transfer the sauce to a jar. Chill in the fridge until cold.
  • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes to set before transferring to a wire rack for complete cooling. Drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.
