Orange liquor soaked currants folded into oatmeal dough, cut into sixteen delectable squares for healthy, delicious scones.
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup orange juice
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 1 cup dried currants
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1.2999999523163 cups cold milk
Instructions:
  • Turn your oven into a warm and cozy haven by preheating it to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • In a small pan, gently warm the orange juice and water. Add the currants and simmer for 1 minute. Set aside to cool slightly.
  • Combine oats, flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and sugar in a food processor. Add butter and pulse until the mixture resembles sand. Transfer to a large mixing bowl.
  • Pour the milk and orange mixture into the large mixing bowl and gently stir until it starts to clump together.
  • Shape the dough into a big ball, incorporating extra milk if needed. Flatten the dough to 1 inch thickness and cut it into 16 squares or triangles.
  • Place the scones on a baking sheet without greasing it and bake for about 15 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned.
