Shrimp marinated in milk and eggs, then breaded with Old Bay® seasoning and cornmeal for crispy perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 large eggs, or more as needed
  • 2 cups milk, or more as needed
  • peanut oil for frying
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups yellow cornmeal
  • 0.5 cup seafood seasoning (such as Old Bay®)
Instructions:
  • Lay each shrimp on a flat surface and gently butterfly them by making a horizontal cut through the middle, ensuring not to slice all the way through.
  • In a bowl, briskly whisk eggs, then stir in milk. Submerge shrimp in the milk mixture and let it marinate for 1 hour.
  • Preheat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 350°F (175°C).
  • Combine flour, cornmeal, and seafood seasoning in a zip-top bag. Add 5 to 6 shrimp, then shake vigorously until coated.
  • Fry shrimp in hot oil until golden brown and opaque in the centers, approximately 5 minutes. Drain excess oil on paper towels. Repeat with remaining shrimp.
