Elevate traditional sugar cookies with decadent dark chocolate, zesty orange peel, and crunchy toasted almonds. These slice-and-bake cookies, with a sugary sparkle, will steal the show on any cookie platter.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • Butter and egg called for on cookie mix pouch for drop cookies
  • 3/4 cup 70% cacao bittersweet chocolate chunks
  • 1/3 cup coarsely chopped slivered almonds, toasted
  • 1 tablespoon coarsely chopped orange peel
  • 1/4 cup coarse sparkling white sugar
Instructions:
  • Prepare the dough according to the instructions on the pouch for drop cookies, then fold in the chocolate chunks, almonds, and orange peel.
  • Divide the dough in half and shape each half into an 8-inch long and 2-inch diameter roll. Roll the dough in sugar, wrap tightly with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for about 2 hours until very firm.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Slice one dough log into 1/2-inch pieces and place them 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets, reshaping as needed. Repeat with the second dough log.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until edges are set. Allow to cool for 2 minutes before transferring from the cookie sheet to a cooling rack. Let cool completely for about 1 1/2 hours until the chocolate sets. Store in an airtight container once cooled.
