Overnight Christmas breakfast casserole with bacon, cheese, and bell peppers - an effortless and delicious way to start your day while celebrating!
Ingredients:
  • 16 slices bread, crusts removed - divided
  • 16 slices Canadian bacon
  • 16 slices sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 0.25 cup minced onion
  • 2 tablespoons diced green bell pepper
  • 2 tablespoons diced red bell pepper
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 dash hot sauce
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup crushed corn flakes cereal
Instructions:
  • Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Arrange 8 slices of bread to cover the bottom completely. Top with Canadian bacon and sharp Cheddar cheese. Finish by adding the remaining 8 slices of bread to cover everything.
  • In a bowl, vigorously whisk together eggs, salt, and black pepper. Add dry mustard, onion, diced green and red bell pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce to the eggs, and whisk until well combined. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Pour the mixture evenly over the casserole, cover, and refrigerate overnight.
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for ideal baking conditions.
  • Drizzle the warm butter evenly on top of the casserole, then sprinkle the corn flake crumbs over it.
  • Place the dish in the preheated oven until it is firm and turns a beautiful golden brown, which should take around 1 hour. Allow the casserole to rest for 10 minutes before indulging in its deliciousness.
