Savory beef and pork sausage meatballs with a delightful twist of apple butter, perfect for entertaining!
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup MUSSELMAN'S® Apple Butter, divided
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 0.5 cup grated red onion
  • 1 pound pork sausage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups panko bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 0.5 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • Cayenne pepper
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F and cover a large-rimmed baking sheet with foil.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter. Add grated onions and sauté for 3-4 minutes until soft.
  • Combine sausage, ground beef, panko, 1/2 cup apple butter, sour cream, eggs, salt, pepper, and allspice in a large bowl. Mix in the cooled onions using your hands until evenly combined.
  • Portion the meatballs into one-ounce sizes, shaping them into tight balls and arranging closely (but not touching) on the baking sheet to yield 40-45 meatballs.
  • After baking for 15 minutes, combine 1/2 cup of apple butter with beef broth, honey, and 1-2 dashes of cayenne pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  • After 15 minutes, take the meatballs out of the oven. Drizzle the sauce over each meatball, ensuring they are fully coated, then return to the oven for 5-7 minutes.
  • After cooking until done, gently shake the baking sheet to release the meatballs and serve while still hot.
