Elevate peas with bacon, butter, and nuts for a quick and delicious side dish.
Ingredients:
  • 3 1/2 cups frozen sweet peas
  • 2 slices bacon, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Dash pepper
Instructions:
  • Prepare the peas according to the instructions on the bag, then drain.
  • In a 10-inch nonstick skillet, crisp the bacon over medium-high heat for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove the bacon from the skillet using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  • Sauté onion and almonds in the flavorful bacon drippings on medium-high heat for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring often, until onion is soft and almonds are golden. Transfer out of skillet.
  • In the same skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat, then combine cooked peas, bacon, onion, almonds, salt, and pepper, and toss together.
