Pennsylvania Coal Region Barbecue

Coal Region BBQ sandwich with homemade sauce and ground beef on a bun.
Ingredients:
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 0.75 cup ketchup
  • 1.5 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1.5 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons prepared yellow mustard
  • salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • Brown the ground beef and onion in a large skillet over medium-high heat until the beef is crumbly and no longer pink, and the onion is soft and translucent, for about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain off any excess grease.
  • Lower the heat to medium, then mix in ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper. Allow it to simmer for approximately 15 minutes.
  • Top buns with beef mixture and serve.
