Renowned chef B Smith reveals an exquisite and affordable recipe!
Ingredients:
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 3 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 20 oz pork sausage (about 2 1/2 cups)
  • 1 cup diced apple
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Maple syrup, if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a large baking sheet. In a large bowl, combine water and Bisquick, kneading until the dough is smooth. Cover and set aside.
  • In a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat, sauté pork sausage until browned, about 4 minutes. Add apple and onion for an additional minute. Drain any excess grease. Return to the skillet and mix in cranberries, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • On a flat surface, roll out the Bisquick dough into a 10x14 inch rectangle. Spread the sausage mixture in the center of the dough and sprinkle with cheese. Leave a 1-inch border around the edges. Brush the edges with water. Roll up the dough from the long side to form a loaf, ensuring the edges are sealed by pinching them.
  • Lay the loaf on a baking sheet and create 4 small slits on the top. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until beautifully golden. Allow it to cool for 5 minutes before cutting into 8 slices. Enjoy with maple syrup, if desired.
