A fusion of Korean corn cheese and pigs in a blanket using crescent rolls for a delicious bakery treat.
Ingredients:
  • 2 (8-ounce) packages refrigerated crescent dough (sheets or rolls)
  • 8 beef hot dogs
  • 1 cup mayonnaise (preferably Kewpie brand)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (preferably whole milk)
  • 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 3/4 cup chopped yellow onion (about 1 medium)
  • 1 cup (8 ounces) corn kernels, frozen and thawed or canned and drained
  • 4 scallions, green parts only, thinly sliced
  • Ketchup, for drizzling (optional)
  • Honey mustard, for dipping (not drizzling) (optional)
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 400°F while you line two sheet pans with parchment paper. Set them aside for now.
  • Prepare the pigs in blankets: Unroll one sheet of crescent dough and press the seams to form a large rectangle. Cut the dough into quarters. Place a hot dog in the center of each piece of dough horizontally, wrap the dough over it, fold in the ends, and seal by rolling with your hands. Repeat with the remaining dough and hot dogs to make 8 pigs in blankets. Space them out on parchment-lined sheet pans, ensuring they have room to expand, and set aside.
  • Prepare the corn cheese: Combine mayonnaise, mozzarella, onion, corn, sesame oil, sugar, salt, white pepper, and most of the scallions in a bowl. Set aside a tablespoon of scallions for final garnish.
  • Shape the pigs in blanket: Cut 1/4-inch angled slices on one end of each roll, but not all the way through. Press the cut piece down on the sheet pan. Continue cutting slices and pressing them down alternately to create a decorative pattern resembling branches or flowers. Aim for about 12 cuts per pigs in a blanket. Watch Maangchi's demonstration from the 8:50-minute mark for guidance.
  • Top each pull-apart pigs in a blanket with a generous 1/2 cup of corn cheese filling, ensuring that most of the surface is covered. Drizzle with ketchup for a caramelized finish, if desired.
  • Baking: Bake until golden brown all around for 15 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes before adding the remaining scallions on top. Serve as is or with ketchup and mustard for dipping. Share your feedback below!
