Make this cake with your kids using cake mix and frosting for a fun and easy treat anytime, no special occasion needed!
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Yellow Cake Mix or 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting
  • Green food color
  • 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Chocolate Frosting
  • 4 M&M's® chocolate candies green
  • 4 M&M's® minis chocolate candies brown, if desired
  • 1 piece red string licorice
  • 1 green licorice twist, cut in half
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans) and line 24 regular-size muffin cups with paper baking cups. Prepare the cake mix as instructed on the box to make 24 cupcakes. Allow them to cool for 10 minutes before transferring to cooling racks. Let the cupcakes cool completely for about 30 minutes before serving.
  • Combine vanilla frosting with green food color in a small bowl until reaching your preferred shade. Transfer 1/4 cup of green frosting and 1/4 cup of chocolate frosting into separate small resealable plastic freezer bags. Seal the bags and cut a small tip from the corner of each bag. Set aside for later use.
  • Line 2 large serving trays with 12 cupcakes each. Frost the shell of one turtle with chocolate frosting, and frost the head and feet with green frosting. Combine cupcakes slightly to frost the entire turtle. Use green frosting to pipe a turtle design on the chocolate shell. Place 2 candies for eyes and add chocolate frosting for pupils. Use chocolate frosting or miniature chocolate candies for nostrils. Trim red string licorice for the mouth and green licorice for the tail.
  • Spread green frosting on the cupcakes to create a shell and chocolate frosting for the head and feet. Use chocolate frosting to draw a turtle design on the green shell. Place two candies for eyes and add chocolate frosting for pupils. Use green frosting or miniature chocolate candies for nostrils. Attach red string licorice for the mouth and green licorice for the tail. Store the cupcakes loosely covered.
