Delicious warm and bubbly cabbage and apple dish with a perfect balance of sweetness from sugar and tanginess from vinegar. Serves two generously.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 8 cups shredded red cabbage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tart apples - peeled, cored and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
Instructions:
  • Begin by heating oil in a medium saucepan. Add cabbage and onion, cook until softened. Next, mix in apple, water, salt, and pepper. Cover and let it simmer for approximately 25 minutes.
  • Add the vinegar and sugar to the mixture, adjusting to achieve your perfect balance of sweet and sour flavors. Continue cooking for 5 to 6 minutes.
