Sausage and Pepperoni Dip

Try this delicious Italian-inspired sausage and pepperoni dip, perfect for party appetizers with French bread or crackers.
Ingredients:
  • 3/4 pound bulk Italian pork sausage
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni (2 ounces), chopped
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 jar (14 ounces) pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (8 ounces)
  • Baguette-style French bread slices or assorted crackers, if desired
Instructions:
  • In a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat, sauté the sausage and onion until the sausage is cooked through; then drain. Add pepperoni, ketchup, and pizza sauce to the skillet and mix well.
  • Grease a 1 1/2- to 3-quart slow cooker with cooking spray, then transfer the sausage mixture into the cooker and mix in the cheese.
  • Cook on low heat for 2 to 3 hours until the cheese is melted and the mixture is hot.
  • Use a rubber spatula to scrape down the side of the cooker and prevent the edge of the dip from scorching. Serve with bread or crackers. Keep dip on low heat for up to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
