Ingredients:
  • 1 (12 ounce) package ground sausage
  • 18 fresh mushrooms
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 0.75 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 1 cup red wine
Instructions:
  • In a large, deep skillet, sear the sausage over medium-high heat until beautifully browned. Remove and set aside after draining excess grease.
  • Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) for a perfect bake.
  • Prepare the mushrooms by wiping them clean. Separately, remove the stems and finely chop them, keeping them aside for later use.
  • Combine the chopped mushroom stems, cream cheese, and bread crumbs in a medium bowl. Stir in the sausage and 1/4 cup of red wine.
  • Fill the mushroom caps with the chopped stem mixture using a spoon. Place them in a large baking dish and top with the rest of the red wine.
  • Place in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
