Experience flavor-packed slow cooker steak sandwich recipe.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound thinly sliced sirloin steak strips
  • 8 ounces sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1 green bell pepper, seeded and cut into strips
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 10 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 1 (14 ounce) can beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.125 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 0.25 cup Pinot Noir or other dry red wine
  • 0.5 cup prepared horseradish
  • 0.5 cup brown mustard
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, warm oil. Cook steak until browned. Add mushrooms, bell pepper, and onion; stir and cook until just tender, around 5 minutes.
  • Add beef broth, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, red pepper flakes, and red wine into a slow cooker. Gently mix in steak and vegetables. Cover and cook on High for 3 to 4 hours until the beef is melt-in-your-mouth tender.
  • Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) while saving the flavorful liquid from the slow cooker for dipping.
  • Cut the French bread loaf lengthwise as you would for a submarine sandwich. Combine horseradish and mustard, then spread this mixture inside the loaf. Layer both sides of the loaf with provolone cheese, followed by steak and vegetables. Seal the loaf shut and wrap it tightly in aluminum foil.
  • Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes until crispy. Slice into 4 sandwiches and serve with the savory slow cooker juices for dipping.
