Cheeseburger skillet: a comforting taste of summer all year round.
Ingredients:
  • 2 teaspoon butter
  • 2 teaspoon oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 1/4 pounds 93% lean ground beef
  • 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoon pickle relish
  • 2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 1 teaspoon granulated onion
  • 1 teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups beef broth, divided
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 1/2 cups macaroni noodles
  • 3 cups grated sharp Cheddar cheese
Instructions:
  • In a deep cast iron skillet over medium heat, melt the butter along with the oil. Sauté the chopped onion until translucent, which should take around 3 minutes.
  • Sauté minced garlic and ground beef together, stirring occasionally and breaking up the meat with a spatula, until the beef is crumbly and browned, approximately 7 minutes.
  • Mix together tomato sauce and evaporated milk. Incorporate pickle relish, Dijon mustard, granulated garlic, granulated onion, Montreal steak seasoning, chili powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  • Set aside 1/4 cup of beef broth, then pour the rest into the skillet. Mix flour with the reserved broth to create a slurry, then add it to the skillet.
  • Add the dry macaroni to the mixture and make sure it's completely covered. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 10 minutes until the macaroni is al dente.
  • Place a rack 6 inches below the broiler and preheat the oven's broiler.
  • Fold 2 cups of cheese into the macaroni mixture, then generously sprinkle the remaining cheese on top. Broil for about 3 minutes until the cheese is golden. Serve hot and enjoy!
