Tasty slow cooker deep dish pizza for a no-fuss, customizable meal without using the oven.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 lb bulk mild Italian sausage
  • 1 can (11 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Thin Crust Pizza Crust
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped red or green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (6 oz)
Instructions:
  • Prepare the slow cooker by spraying it with cooking spray. Cook the sausage in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it is no longer pink. Drain any excess grease.
  • Lay out the pizza dough and carefully fold it in half. Gently place the folded dough in the slow cooker and press it into the bottom and up the sides. Next, evenly spread the pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a 1/2 inch border. Sprinkle half of the cooked sausage, bell pepper, onion, and cheese over the sauce. Repeat with the remaining ingredients for a delicious layered effect.
  • Place a folded, clean dish towel under the slow cooker lid to prevent condensation from dripping onto the pizza. Cook on High heat setting for 45 minutes. Carefully remove the slow cooker's ceramic insert (keeping the lid on) and rotate it 180°. Continue cooking on High heat setting for 30 to 60 minutes until the crust edges are deep golden brown, cheese is melted, and a thermometer inserted in the center reads 165°F.
  • Use a metal spatula or small knife to loosen the edges of the pizza, then carefully transfer it from the slow cooker to a cutting board. Slice and enjoy!
