Slow-cooker mulled wine

Elevate your mulled wine with citrus, star anise, and vanilla cooked low and slow.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5l red wine
  • 2 x 330ml btls apple cider
  • 2 oranges, juiced
  • 150g caster sugar
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks or quills
  • 2 whole star anise
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste
  • 1 orange, quartered, thinly sliced
  • 1 small Granny Smith apple, thinly sliced
Instructions:
  • In a slow cooker, mix together wine, apple cider, and orange juice. Add sugar, cloves, cinnamon, star anise, and vanilla, stirring well. Cook on high for 1 hour until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is aromatic. Stir occasionally. Just before serving, add sliced orange and apple.
