Enhance Swiss steak with bold flavor from vegetable juice simmering.
Ingredients:
  • 2 small onions, sliced
  • 3-pound beef boneless round steak, trimmed of fat and cut into serving-size portions
  • 1 envelope (0.87 ounce) brown gravy mix
  • 1 can (12 ounces) vegetable juice
  • 2 medium stalks celery, cut into 1/2-inch slices
  • 1 package (16 ounces) frozen home-style egg noodles
Instructions:
  • Add onions to a 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker. Layer beef on top of the onions, making sure to overlap as needed. Sprinkle dry gravy mix over the beef, then pour vegetable juice over everything. Finish by placing celery on the top.
  • Let it simmer on low heat for 8 to 10 hours, covered.
  • Cook the noodles according to the package instructions. Serve the sauce, vegetables, and beef over the cooked noodles just before serving.
