Adorable snowman cookies decorated with your favorite candies and sprinkles, easily customizable with black and orange candy melts.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 ounces full fat cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup loosely packed light brown sugar
  • 1 egg yolk, room temp
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup granulated or sanding sugar, for rolling
  • 3 tablespoons dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons white chocolate chips
  • Orange gel food coloring
  • Assorted holiday sprinkles
  • Pull-apart licorice sticks, such as Twizzlers
Instructions:
  • Combine butter, cream cheese, white sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl until smooth and fluffy, about 3 to 4 minutes. Mix in egg yolk, vanilla, and almond extract, beating for an extra 3 minutes. Gently fold in flour, salt, baking powder, and nutmeg until fully combined.
  • Chill dough in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  • Place a sheet of parchment paper on a cookie sheet and add 1/3 cup of sugar to a bowl.
  • Take out the dough from the refrigerator. Make one 2-tablespoon-sized ball and one 1-tablespoon-sized ball from the dough. Gently press the balls together without flattening them too much. Roll the snowman in sugar and place it on the baking sheet. Repeat to make more snowmen. Chill the snowmen for 30 minutes before baking.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Bake snowmen in the preheated oven for 17 to 20 minutes, until cookies look set and slightly crack. Let cookies cool completely on the baking sheet before removing.
  • Melt dark chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals at 50% power. Transfer the melted chocolate into a piping bag, snip a small hole, and use it to create the eyes, mouth, and three buttons on each snowman. Finish by adding holiday sprinkles for decoration.
  • Melt the white chocolate in the microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals at 50% power. Stir in the orange gel coloring until well combined. Transfer the mixture into a piping bag and cut a small hole at the end. Pipe noses onto the snowmen.
  • Separate a licorice stick into single strands. Drape each snowman's neck with a licorice strand to create a charming scarf. Twist the strand once and gently press it together for a snug fit (it may loosen but can be easily readjusted). Store snowmen in an airtight container.
