Delicious holiday cut-out sugar cookies.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions:
  • Cream the margarine and sugar in a large bowl until smooth. Mix in the eggs, vanilla, and sour cream. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. The dough will be light and sticky. Cover or wrap the dough and refrigerate overnight.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/8 inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to create your favorite shapes and arrange them 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  • Place the cookie dough in the preheated oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the cookies achieve a deliciously light brown color. Transfer the cookies from the baking sheets to wire racks to cool.
