Delicate sugar roll-out cookies with a hint of cake flavor, perfect for use with a cookie press.
Ingredients:
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 cups sour cream
Instructions:
  • Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl; set aside. In a large bowl, cream the shortening and sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla and sour cream. Slowly incorporate the sifted ingredients until just blended. Chill the dough overnight, covered or wrapped.
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and grease your cookie sheets. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to create fun shapes and place them 1 1/2 inches apart on the prepared sheets.
  • Bake in a preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are lightly browned. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
