Spicy Sausage Breakfast Squares

Satisfy a crowd with a hearty sausage and cheese egg bake!
Ingredients:
  • 12 oz frozen (thawed) bulk hot pork sausage
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, chopped (1 cup)
  • 1 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend (6 oz)
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 425°F. Grease a 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish with shortening or cooking spray. In a 12-inch skillet over medium heat, cook sausage, onion, and garlic until sausage is no longer pink; drain any excess fat. Add bell pepper to the skillet mixture and stir well. Remove from heat.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, crushed red pepper, milk, and eggs until smooth. Pour the batter into a baking dish, top with the pork mixture, and sprinkle with cheese.
  • Bake until the top turns a beautiful golden brown, approximately 22 to 27 minutes.
