Spicy Italian sausage elevates classic tomato sauce for a zesty pasta dinner.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound spicy Italian sausage, casing removed
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, minced
  • 0.5 cup dry white wine
  • 0.25 cup heavy cream
  • 3.5 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 14.5 ounces dry penne pasta
  • 1 cup finely grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
Instructions:
  • Brown the sausage in a Dutch oven over medium heat for approximately 15 minutes.
  • Combine fresh, vibrant parsley into the mixture and cook for approximately 2 minutes.
  • Add white wine and simmer until most of the liquid has cooked off, approximately 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Add heavy cream and raise the heat until boiling. Mix in marinara sauce and water, then bring back to a boil. Lower the heat and let the sauce simmer for 1 hour.
  • 1. In a large pot, generously season water with salt and bring it to a vigorous boil. 2. Add penne to the boiling water and cook until al dente, stirring occasionally, for roughly 11 minutes. 3. Drain the cooked pasta and enjoy!
  • Mix the pasta with the delicious sauce, then cover and let it rest off the heat for approximately 2 minutes.
  • Top the pasta and sauce with a generous sprinkle of grated Parmigiano-Reggiano before serving.
