Spiral Candle Cake

Impress birthday guests with a creative candle cake decoration and a moist, delicious treat!
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Vanilla Cake Mix (or your favorite flavor)
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • Thin sparkler candles, 6 1/2x1/8 inch
  • Pencils
  • 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting or 1 tub (12 oz) Betty Crocker™ Whipped Vanilla Frosting (or your favorite flavor)
  • Flat mint or rainbow candy-coating wafers, as desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans) and prepare cake batter according to package instructions. Bake in two 8-inch or 9-inch round pans as directed. Allow cakes to cool completely before frosting.
  • Soften the candles by placing them in warm water until pliable, then wrap each one around a pencil. Let the candles cool for about 15 seconds before carefully removing the pencils.
  • Place the first cake layer, rounded side down, on a serving plate. Spread with approximately 1/3 cup of frosting. Add the second layer, rounded side up, on top. Frost the side and top of the cake with the remaining frosting. Decorate by arranging candles and wafers on the cake.
