Caramelize onions for flavor-packed burgers and appetizers.
Ingredients:
  • 2.25kg red onions, halved, thinly sliced
  • 4 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 tsp fresh thyme leaves
  • 59.40 gm firmly packed brown sugar
  • 82.50 ml balsamic vinegar
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan over medium-low heat, gently heat the oil. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 30 minutes.
  • Saute garlic and thyme, stirring, for 3 minutes. Stir in sugar and vinegar. Cook for 20 minutes until thickened and caramelized. Season with salt and pepper. Allow to cool for 10 minutes. Serve.
