Family heirloom fruit compote with warm spices and citrus twist, a Christmas must-have. Best enjoyed after resting.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup pearl tapioca
  • 2 quarts water
  • 1.5 cups pitted prunes
  • 1.5 cups raisins
  • 1.25 cups sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2.5 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 dash salt
Instructions:
  • Place the tapioca in a bowl and cover with water, allowing it to soak for 8 hours or overnight.
  • In a large saucepan, combine 2 quarts of water with prunes, raisins, sugar, and cinnamon. Bring to a boil, then add soaked tapioca. Cook and stir occasionally for 30 minutes, or until tapioca is clear and prunes are tender. Finish by adding lemon juice and salt. Refrigerate until fully chilled before serving.
