Satisfying make-ahead breakfast casserole.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound bacon
  • 1 cup bread cubes
  • 2.75 cups milk
  • 12 eggs
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 1 pound Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 4 teaspoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup dry bread crumbs
Instructions:
  • In a large, deep skillet, cook the bacon over medium-high heat until crispy and browned. Then, drain, crumble, and set it aside.
  • In a large bowl, toss the bread cubes with milk and let them soak for 5 minutes. Then, in a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.
  • Melt 1/4 cup of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Scramble the egg mixture until soft, then mix in the soaked bread cubes. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking pan and sprinkle shredded cheese on top. In a small bowl, combine butter and bread crumbs, then sprinkle over the cheese layer. Top with bacon, cover, and refrigerate overnight.
  • The following day, heat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Once the oven is heated to the perfect temperature, let the dish bake for 40 minutes. Enjoy while it's warm and fresh out of the oven.
