Quick and easy autumn dessert with minimal prep time: Tart apple-cranberry crumble.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups chopped Granny Smith apples
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1.25 cups brown sugar
  • 2 fluid ounces brandy, or more to taste
  • 1.5 cups rolled oats
  • 0.5 cup chopped almonds
  • 0.5 cup chopped walnuts
  • 0.25 cup white sugar, or to taste
  • 0.75 cup butter, cut into pats
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) while generously greasing a shallow baking pan that holds 2 to 3 quarts.
  • Mix together apples, cranberries, 2 cups white sugar, and brown sugar in the baking pan. Pour brandy over the top.
  • Mix rolled oats, flour, almonds, walnuts, and 1/4 cup of white sugar in a bowl. Spread evenly over apples in the baking pan to prevent burning and ensure even cooking. Top with pats of butter to enhance browning and flavor.
  • Place in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Rotate the pan halfway through for even cooking. Bake until lightly browned, for an additional 15 to 30 minutes.
