Indulgent cinnamon rolls with luscious cream cheese frosting – the ultimate treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour, or more as needed
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2.5 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.5 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 0.125 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • Warm milk in the microwave-safe bowl for 45 to 60 seconds until it reaches approximately 105 degrees F (41 degrees C), then transfer it to the bowl of a standing mixer.
  • In a bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of sugar and yeast with warm milk. Allow the mixture to sit until foamy, about 5 minutes. Then, add 1/2 cup sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Stir together using a dough hook until well combined.
  • Combine 4 cups of flour, sea salt, and cinnamon in a mixer and mix with the dough hook, starting on low speed and gradually increasing to high speed until a large ball of smooth and slightly tacky dough forms. If the dough seems too sticky, add 1 tablespoon of flour at a time until a smooth ball is formed.
  • Place dough onto a floured surface and knead it by hand until smooth and elastic for 3 to 5 minutes. Shape it into a ball and put it in a greased bowl. Cover with a warm, damp towel and allow the dough to rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size, approximately 1 hour.
  • Mix together brown sugar, softened butter, and cinnamon in a small bowl until well combined. Set aside while the dough rises.
  • Pat down the dough to release any air pockets, then move it to a generously floured surface. Roll the dough into a 24x12-inch rectangle, keeping it about 1/4-inch thick. Evenly spread the filling over the dough using greased hands or a greased spatula. Roll the dough into a log shape and slice into 12 pieces, each around 2 inches long.
  • Lightly grease a 9x13-inch glass baking dish and line it with parchment paper. Arrange the cinnamon rolls in 4 rows of 3 in the dish, ensuring they are evenly spaced. Cover and allow them to rise until nearly doubled in size, approximately 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) while you get everything ready.
  • Bake the rolls in the preheated oven until they are beautifully golden brown, for about 18 to 20 minutes.
  • Blend powdered sugar, cream cheese, softened butter, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth for the frosting. Set aside at room temperature while the rolls bake.
  • Frost warm rolls and allow them to cool before serving.
