Indulge in a scrumptious Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ white cake mix poke cake with creamy vanilla frosting and colorful decorating gel.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ White Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and egg whites called for on cake mix box
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 3 tablespoons each Jell-O™ strawberry-flavored, lime-flavored and berry blue-flavored gelatin (from 4-serving-size boxes)
  • 1 tub (12 oz) Betty Crocker™ Whipped Vanilla Frosting
  • 4 tubes (0.68 oz each) Betty Crocker™ decorating gel (pink, green, orange and blue)
  • 1 box (17.6 oz) neon fondant
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan) and generously spray bottom of a 13x9-inch pan with baking spray containing flour. Prepare cake mix according to package instructions for a 13x9-inch pan, utilizing water, oil, and egg whites. Allow the cake to cool in the pan on a wire rack for 20 minutes.
  • In 3 bowls, dissolve each flavored gelatin by pouring 1/3 cup boiling water over each; stir well. Poke warm cake all over with a wooden skewer, then pour each color gelatin over the cake to fill in the holes. Let it cool completely for about 1 hour before serving.
  • Enhance cake's appearance by using decorating gels to create vertical lines 1/4 inch apart on the frosting, alternating colors. Using a fine-tip paintbrush, drag it in a straight line across all colors to achieve a vibrant tie-dye effect, working from one side of the cake to the other.
  • Roll the fondant to 1/8-inch thickness, then cut it into rounds and flower shapes. Gently insert toothpicks halfway into the cutouts, and use them to beautifully decorate your cake slices.
