Try this irresistible, cheesy queso recipe that's a family favorite without using Velveeta® cheese.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound mild pork sausage
  • 1.5 (8 ounce) packages shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes and green chiles (such as RO*TEL®), drained
  • 1 (8 ounce) package shredded Cheddar Jack cheese
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, cubed
  • 1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
  • 1 (4 ounce) can Peppers, hot chili, green, canned, pods, excluding seeds, solids and liquids
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground red pepper
Instructions:
  • In a large pot over medium heat, brown and crumble the sausage for about 5 minutes. Drain grease and return the sausage to the pot. Stir in Cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes, Cheddar Jack cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, green chiles, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, and red pepper.
  • Simmer the queso on low, stirring occasionally, until smooth and the desired thickness, 5 to 10 minutes. Serve right away or keep warm in a slow cooker on Low for all-day snacking.
