Indulgent white chocolate and buttery macadamia nuts unite in these decadent cookie bars.
Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped macadamia nuts or slivered almonds
  • 1 cup white baking chips
  • 1 teaspoon shortening
Instructions:
  • 1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and generously grease a 13x9x2-inch rectangular pan. 2. In a 3-quart saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over low heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the butter is melted; then remove from the heat.
  • Using an electric mixer on medium speed, blend vanilla and eggs into the sugar mixture. Gradually mix in flour and baking powder on low speed. Fold in half of the nuts and 1/4 cup of the baking chips. Transfer the batter into a pan, then top with the remaining nuts and 1/2 cup of the baking chips.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and the center is set. Allow to cool for approximately 30 minutes.
  • Gently melt the remaining 1/4 cup of baking chips and shortening in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently. Transfer the mixture into a small resealable plastic bag, seal it, and cut a small hole in one corner. Drizzle the melted chips over the bars by squeezing the bag. Let it cool until hardened. Cut into 48 bars by slicing into 8 rows horizontally and 6 rows vertically.
