Candied pecans made with brown sugar, white sugar, milk, and butter, cooked to perfection and cooled on a slab for irresistible chewy treats.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 cup evaporated milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1.25 cups pecan halves
  • 0.25 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • Thoroughly coat a large slab or baking sheet with a generous amount of oil or butter.
  • Combine brown sugar, white sugar, and milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, then stir in butter, pecans, and vanilla. Cook without stirring until the temperature reaches 234-240F (112-116C) or until a small amount dropped into cold water forms a soft ball that flattens. Remove from heat and cool for 5 minutes.
  • Whisk until mixture thickens, then promptly pour onto prepped surface. Allow to set until solid and completely cooled before slicing.
